Cornerstone Christian Academy Hires First Preschool Director

Sugar Land, TX April 19, 2010 -- Cornerstone Christian Academy, one of the fastest growing private schools in Sugar Land, is pleased to announce that LuAnn Park will be its first preschool director, beginning in the 2010 – 2011 school year.

“Cornerstone Christian Academy is poised in the community to have the best preschool in town. My goal is to continue taking it there,” Park said.

Park brings years of education, experience and knowledge to the position. She is no stranger to Cornerstone. Her children have attended CCA throughout the years, both in preschool and elementary school. She is serving as an administrative assistant this year and served as a parent volunteer for two years before that.

She received her undergraduate degree from Abilene Christian University and her Master’s degree of Education from Houston Baptist University. She taught in FBISD for five years.

“I have four children who attended different preschools throughout the area. Between that and teaching, I bring experience and great ideas to the table.” Park said.

Park and her husband John have been active members of First Colony Church of Christ for eighteen years, and Park has served on various committees for the childrens’, youth and womens’ ministries within the church.

The preschool director position was created to fill a growing need.

“It became clear that the growth for next year would outpace the reach of the administration, which is not a bad problem to have. We certainly do not want to sacrifice quality for quantity, and creating a preschool director position was the perfect answer,” Chad St. Jean, head of school, said.

St. Jean did not have to look far to find the ideal candidate for the job.

“I interviewed several candidates for this position. They were all qualified, but Mrs. Park’s personality and experience made her shine,” he said.

Housed within the First Colony Church of Christ facility, Cornerstone Christian Academy opened its doors in September of 2003 with a large heart and a small mother’s-day-out program. Having added an elementary grade each year, CCA will teach two-year-olds – 7th grade beginning in the fall of 2010. Elementary students attend music, art, P.E. and Spanish weekly. CCA’s students attend daily Bible chapel. CCA has grown consistently each year, and CCA strives to keep our student to teacher ratio low to maintain excellent student performance.

Cornerstone offers multiple options for Preschoolers ages 2 - 4 in a loving, Christian environment.

PLAY IS CHILDREN'S WORK
Early childhood experts and recent brain research support the use of play-oriented curricula with young children. Concrete "hands-on" learning experiences advance children to higher levels of language, thinking skills and problem solving. Through these activities, basic skills are introduced, practiced and mastered. A wide range of enrichment activities broadens the child's vocabulary, creativity and experience base.

SPIRITUAL TRAINING
Students participate in chapel and Bible lessons daily. Worship time consists of Bible songs, scriptures and prayers. All aspects of teaching include the Christian perspective, providing guidance for personal responsibility and friendship. Teachers model Christian principles as they lead children to know God as their Father and Jesus as their Savior.

4-Day Program M/W/TH/F (young 2-year-olds born between Aug. 16, 2008 and Oct. 31, 2008)
